I completely agree with this, even as someone who makes a living off of teaching children. When COVID started, I lost my position in the school I was supposed to be part-time teaching at, since then I have been forced to work for one of those "day care" schools in order to survive (however I am not actually surviving because they pay is far lower than a teaching salary). Still, I was angered every day that more and more kids were being dumped into our tiny daycare (these families clearly are NOT working, most of them get dropped off by grand parents, so what jobs are so important that these retired folks can't keep the kids home all day??) - I would be more compassionate IF I saw that these were working mothers and fathers, in my job's case, they are not. Although I am somewhat happy to have a job, over the weekend I got extremely sick, and work is the only place I go. It is impossible, even with high levels of forced sanitation, to keep lots of kids and staff safe from each other so these kids NEED TO STAY HOME. Sure, I would be out of a job again, but I would gladly teach online rather than risk my health any more than I have because so many parents are just so stupidly stubborn.
