I feel like you somehow missed the whole part of the article where I pointed out how it’s not really a matter of doing anything wrong. I don’t think a lot of people who ghost are doing anything wrong. Sure there are some terrible cases, but those few and far between are not what I am talking about, and I was once the victim of a hit and run.

Furthermore, you pay a deposit on your apartment in the event that there are damages caused by you living there, or from abandoning the property early, resulting in a loss of potential income to the company. That system would not work for jobs because they pay you for you to be there, not the other way around. Just not working for a company does not harm them in any way. Sure, they might be annoyed about the time and money they put into training someone, but if a company is getting ghosted often, chances are there is something fundamentally wrong on their end or they are just very terrible at hiring the right people, either way, it’s still not the employee’s fault.
