I’m glad someone else wrote this because no one wants to listen when the girl who got all the attention says it. Over the years it has killed me, killed friendships, killed relationships. Being considered pretty in that way can bring a lot of negative attention, even when you’re not trying to get attention. I used to go out in NYC with my girlfriends, they would be dressed to the 9s, I’d be in ripped jeans and a beanie and still idiots would swarm. I’m not even super pretty, which is even worse. Being in the middle is the worst, not so beautiful that people respect you, not so unattractive that people listen to you rather than judge how you look, just hot enough for every guy to think they have a chance. The worst part is people tend to not trust you just because of how you look. I was and still am very jealous of the “average” girls who always end up with super hot guys and good jobs because men are apparently easily intimidated. I lived with someone who was very much like the writer, always jealous of the attention I got instead of them. It made enjoying our time out impossible, it made them angry. They never noticed how the hottest and nicest guys were always hitting on them because they were so distracted by the creeps hitting on me. Ugh. I’m still mad about it.
